Welcome to the September issue of The Traveler!
We're back from our Alaskan Adventure, and kicking off our feature articles for September with The Traveler's own rather inauspicious arrival in Skagway - a lonely town when you show up a 4AM. Next we'll bike and sail through the romantic Dalmatian Islands of Croatia, and then discover an unexpected surprise on a dreamy Tuscan afternoon.
Since we're just back from Alaska, that's our theme for the Travel Writing Pick-of-the-Month. An anthology of voices tell of life in the Great North of Alaska, from the urban center of Anchorage to the most remote reaches where families have settled and live a hard life off the land. A great way to see beyond the tourist busses and cruise ships into the real Alaska.
And finally, in preparation for your fall (or spring) adventures, we'll cap the issue with our usual travel ideas, resources, and bargains .
Regular readers know; this is The Traveler's favorite time of year! We'll be busy the next few days updating our Fall Color Page for 2007 and in the coming weeks preparing the Fall Color Special Edition and Photo Album. It'll be a lot of work, but we love doing it. If you're interested in submitting photos and/or text for the special issue, check our What's New section below to find out more.
